The Huntley Amtrak Station is a proposed train station in Huntley, Illinois, for a new Chicago-Rockford-Dubuque Amtrak corridor that was scheduled to start service by the end of 2015. However, plans were put on hold by Governor Bruce Rauner.

Route

Originally, the route would have run on the same tracks the former Black Hawk line used from 1974-1981, omitting Huntley. However, following unsuccessful negotiations with the Canadian National Railway (owner of former Black Hawk line's route), the state of Illinois switched to a new route along the Union Pacific Railroad which includes Belvidere and Huntley.

Funding

Although funding for the platform comes from the state, the village of Huntley was not prepared for their inclusion on the new Amtrak route, and so does not currently have funds set aside for a station building. On November 20, 2014, it was announced that Illinois would be contributing $2.9 million toward the $3.55 million project. This would go towards a platform, parking, and station building. Had the rail line project not been put on hold, the station would have been completed in November 2015.
